We are looking for (Senior) Manager Global Trade Compliance to join our team in Almere, The Netherlands (Amsterdam area).
Position summary
This role will give you the opportunity to be part of ASM Global Trade Compliance team that has the responsibilities to ensuring ASM global businesses are conducted in compliance with the various international export control laws and regulations, sanctions and customs regulations. Therefore, you will actively participate in developing the trade compliance program, strategies, policies and procedures, and provide trade compliance guidance and trainings to increase the compliance awareness within the organization.
In this role, you will report to the Global Trade Compliance Director.
This role falls under the Legal department.
Responsibilities
- Tracking and monitoring of the U.S., European Union, Singapore and other international trade compliance regulations updates and changes relevant to ASM
- Assisting in interpreting and applying the export control laws and regulations at ASM global entities
- Implementing, when applicable, those updates and changes into the SAP GTS system and with the ASM Businesses
- Performing customers and suppliers due diligence, and review the export/import transactions to ensure compliance with the applicable rules and regulations
- Providing regulatory and operational support and guidance on trade compliance, including the export control compliance matters to internal stakeholders
- Developing and educating the internal clients on trade compliance best practices
- Supporting in investigations, audits and risk- assessments of export control, sanctions and program functions, root cause analysis on deficiencies, and the development and management of resulting corrective action plans and appropriate policies and procedures.
Education and Experience
- Academic background includes a minimum of BA/BS degree or equivalent experience in trade compliance or export controls
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in international trade compliance in an international environment
- Strong knowledge of EU Dual Use 428/2009 regulations, US Export Administration Regulation (“EAR”) and the Office of Foreign Assets Control (“OFAC”) is required
- Experience related to assigning the ECCN/HTS determination and supporting export control licensing requests is required
- Fluent in English
- Preferred is experience in the high-tech or semiconductor Industry
- Excellent communication and effective interpersonal skills
- Attention to details and experience is implementing procedures

- conduct hazard analysis and the related risk assessments for new products and review upgrades and retrofits to existing products for safety compliance.

JOB DESCRIPTION
New College Graduate Program Europe (R&D)
Our intensive graduate program puts you on a fast career track with a leading supplier of semiconductor process equipment for wafer processing. Our goal is to cultivate and nurture the next wave of technical experts, project managers or leaders of ASM.
For the first 2-3 years, you will be working at our R&D satellites in Helsinki, Finland or Leuven, Belgium. During the program, you will be assigned to creating breakthrough process solutions in collaboration with our global product lines and research partners. You will play a pivotal role in strengthening the connection between the business and R&D.
You will work on challenging process development projects and at the same time participate in internal and external training. After some time you will be assigned to lead projects where you can use your creative abilities to overcome tough, technical obstacles and drive new R&D breakthroughs.
With a mentor from a business unit and expert partner, you will work with other talented researchers from around the world, contributing your unique knowledge and insights to open up new pathways. By actively following industry developments, you will be able to signal new trends and opportunities that are important to ASM.
After completing the program through multiple assignments and training, you will be transferred to a designated product line and apply your advanced knowledge within one of our product lines across the world.
Requirements
- PhD degree in physics, physical chemistry, chemistry, materials science or engineering
- Solid knowledge in the areas: chemistry, material science, physics of semiconductors and basic knowledge of the semiconductor device integration process. Former experience in semiconductor industry will be an asset
- Fluent in spoken and written English and excellent communication and presentation skills
