Job Summary

Our Advanced Packaging team is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical/Systems Engineer to lead design and development of an advanced semiconductor process equipment. The ideal candidate will oversee all aspects of system architecture, process controls and automation strategies while managing project timelines and cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of Semiconductor vacuum systems including equipment selection, process controls and integration of automation technologies.
  • Develop and implement automation strategies for semiconductor equipment systems utilizing PLCs, SCADA, and other automation tools to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Oversee project timelines, budgets and resource allocation for development ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams including manufacturing, operations, quality to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for semiconductor equipment and automation systems leading to root cause analysis and issue resolution.
  • Owned BOM release and maintenance while maintaining comprehensive documentation of processes, systems and project outcomes and prepare regular reports for management and key stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for process and automation staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Apply sound engineering principles, product specifications and research data to create designs for systems and products for semiconductor industry.
  • Perform engineering calculations including structural, thermal, and fluid dynamics problems.
  • Create and revise Creo Parametric CAD models and detail drawings, ranging in complexity from simple piece parts to large assemblies.
  • Prepare product/system designs and related engineering documentation for the manufacturing and testing of prototype and production released products. The documentation shall be complete and easy to follow.

 

Education & Experience

  • Master’s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related degree.
  • Minimum 15 years experience in semiconductor equipment design, development, and automation.
  • Experience or course work in engineering, design, and development of complex mechanical systems including reactors, vacuum chambers, gas delivery systems, pneumatics, water cooling circuits, and vacuum systems required.
  • Strong analytical ability; able to visualize, conceptualize, and solve problems.
  • Ability to lead conceptual, innovative design, from starting phase.
  • Independent thinking, able to act as a sparring partner, and a team player.
  • Experience with PLC program, and working with other engineers via revision control software such as Git.

Skills:

  • Semiconductor capital equipment preferred.
  • Metal deposition product knowledge a plus. 
  • Knowledgeable in the requirements for CE, NFPA, Semi S2-95 and other relevant standards as applicable to semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
  • Understanding of materials: metals, plastics, surface coatings and surface finishes.
  • Computer background in Microsoft applications, CREO and AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency in ASME Y14.5 and/or ISO 1101:2017 preferred geometric dimension and tolerance
  • Has knowledge of best practices; recommends product and process improvements.
  • Able to work with a diverse team to achieve requirements and specifications on complex projects.
  • Capability to provide and maintain resource coordination and reporting, interfacing with other organizations and outside vendors on resource requirements.
  • A critical thinker with proven ability to create effective solutions to complex engineering problems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to present design concepts to peers and management in a professional and effective manner.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with aggressive deadlines and multiple priorities while maintaining a team player attitude.
  • Perform self-inspection of all work and is responsible for ensuring that all work performed adheres to documentation requirements, company policies and procedures.
