We are seeking an R&D Engineer for Metrology and Wet Cleans to join our dynamic materials development labs.  Successful candidates will have an understanding of materials characterization equipment and methods, wet cleans processes and equipment, be self-motivated, hands-on, and a resourceful problem solver.  You will work closely with ALD and Epi process engineers to both develop and optimize the deposition of next generation materials for advanced node semiconductor processing.     

 

Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of one or more metrology specialties and / or wet cleans processes. Provide expert-level applications and process engineering support to internal personnel.
  • Collaborate with internal personnel to select metrology characterization and/or wet cleans processing techniques. Aid in data interpretation for process development and optimization.
  • Develop procedures, recipes, and analysis methods to provide high-quality results in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Drive understanding and application of new metrology and/or wet cleans techniques to ensure capabilities meet the company’s material technical roadmap.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software malfunctions. Partner with equipment vendors to resolve issues, maintain tool operations and ensure equipment uptime.
  • Acquire data and summarize results for management and engineering review.
  • Train personnel on equipment, create standard operating procedures, and develop recovery procedures for tool-down situations.
  • Maintain SPC data, collect uptime data, and enhance tool efficiency.
  • Support lab operations and provide on-call coverage.

 

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a scientific or engineering field, Ph.D. preferred. 
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in utilizing metrology equipment such as XRD, XRF, FTIR, ellipsometry, optical defect inspection, e-beam defect inspection and review.
  • Experience in wet cleans processes, the associated equipment, and the relevant safety concerns.

 

Skills

  • Basic understanding of semiconductor processing and device fabrication
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Office and JMP
  • Strong data analysis skills with high attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of SPC and DOE principles and methods
