Job's mission
The Mechanical Designer is responsible for creating, maintaining, and managing detailed mechanical designs, 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and product documentation for semiconductor manufacturing equipment. This role works closely with mechanical engineers and cross-functional teams to translate engineering concepts into manufacturable designs and released product documentation.
The Mechanical Designer / Drafter plays a critical role in supporting product development, configuration management, prototype builds, and manufacturing release activities while ensuring compliance with company standards, drafting practices, and engineering requirements.
What you will be working on
- Create and maintain 3D CAD models, assemblies, layouts, and detailed drawings using Creo or equivalent CAD tools.
- Generate component, assembly, fabrication, and installation drawings in accordance with engineering standards and drafting practices.
- Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), product structures, and related documentation.
- Incorporate engineering requirements, tolerances, and manufacturing constraints into design documentation.
- Assist in packaging studies, layout development, and equipment configuration activities.
Engineering Documentation
- Prepare complete engineering release packages, including drawings, specifications, and supporting documentation.
- Maintain drawing revisions and configuration control throughout the product lifecycle.
- Process Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
- Ensure documentation accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company standards.
- Support product data management (PDM/PLM) processes and release workflows.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with Mechanical Engineers, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, and Suppliers to support product development and manufacturability.
- Participate in design reviews and support implementation of review feedback.
- Work with manufacturing teams to resolve documentation issues and improve producibility.
- Support prototype assembly, system integration, and design verification activities as needed.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve drawing quality, documentation efficiency, and design standardization.
- Support development and maintenance of CAD libraries, design standards, and drafting best practices.
- Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives across engineering projects.
What we are looking for
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, Drafting, or related technical field.
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, drafting, or CAD modeling.
- Proficiency with Creo Parametric or equivalent 3D CAD software.
- Experience creating detailed engineering drawings and mechanical assemblies.
- Understanding of GD&T principles and engineering drawing standards.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and assembly.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
What sets you apart
- Experience in semiconductor, capital equipment, aerospace, medical device, or other precision equipment industries.
- Experience with PLM/PDM systems.
- Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 or ISO GPS drawing standards and GD&T.
- Familiarity with vacuum systems, thermal systems, fluid handling systems, or precision mechanical assemblies.
- Experience supporting prototype builds and engineering change management.
