Job's Mission

As a Field Service Engineer II at ASM, you will play a critical role in supporting leading semiconductor manufacturers by installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting ASM's advanced semiconductor capital equipment. Working directly in customer fabrication facilities, you will leverage your technical expertise to maximize equipment performance, minimize downtime, and deliver exceptional customer support. This position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge semiconductor technology while developing advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

What You Will Be Working On

  • Assist with the installation, qualification, startup, checkout, and decommissioning of ASM's complex electromechanical semiconductor capital equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, upgrades, and repairs on ASM semiconductor systems.
  • Troubleshoot complex electromechanical, pneumatic, vacuum, gas delivery, RF plasma, robotics, and microprocessor-controlled systems.
  • Conduct diagnostic procedures to isolate equipment issues and develop effective corrective action plans.
  • Implement engineering changes, field modifications, and equipment upgrades as released through Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
  • Respond to customer equipment issues and provide timely, accurate, and high-quality technical solutions.
  • Collaborate with ASM technical support, engineering teams, and customers to resolve equipment performance issues.
  • Maintain detailed service documentation, maintenance records, parts usage records, and management reports.
  • Prepare and communicate daily status updates, pass-down reports, and issue escalations.
  • Share lessons learned, troubleshooting findings, and technical resolutions with internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through professional service delivery and proactive communication.
  • Promote ASM spare parts offerings and identify opportunities for future business growth.
  • Follow ASM safety procedures and exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions exist.
  • Work in semiconductor cleanroom environments while adhering to required PPE and safety protocols.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required to support customer operations.

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Electromechanical Engineering or equivalent military technical training.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience supporting OEM semiconductor capital equipment in either field service or manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to obtain Level 3 certification through ASM's Global Training Center (GTC).
  • Knowledge of wafer fabrication environments and semiconductor manufacturing processes.
  • Experience troubleshooting gas delivery systems, vacuum systems, RF plasma systems, and semiconductor equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, electromechanical, pneumatic, and gas schematics.
  • Knowledge of robotics, microprocessor-based controllers, and basic software concepts.
  • Strong troubleshooting and structured problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of hand tools, oscilloscopes, and digital volt meters (DVMs).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and effectively in team environments.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • English language proficiency.
  • Ability to work in semiconductor cleanroom environments and travel up to 25-75% as business needs require.
