Job's mission

Join our Global Sourcing team and help shape how ASM builds a resilient, cost-effective supply chain. As a Category Management Intern, you will support localization initiatives that bring key mechanical component sourcing closer to our manufacturing footprint in Asia. Working alongside experienced category managers, you will gain hands-on exposure to sourcing strategy, supplier management, cost optimization, and supply chain transformation while contributing to projects with measurable business impact

What you will be working on

  • Learn and apply ASM's category strategies for sheet metal and machined components.
  • Analyze technical drawings and product data to categorize parts into appropriate sourcing segments.
  • Support category managers in identifying and prioritizing localization opportunities across Southeast Asia.
  • Conduct data analysis to help define project phases, priorities, and success criteria.
  • Prepare and issue Request for Quotation (RFQ) packages to potential suppliers.
  • Collect, compare, and summarize supplier quotations to support sourcing decisions.
  • Assist with supplier negotiations and commercial evaluations where required.
  • Support the initiation of supply change activities through internal processes and documentation.
  • Track project implementation progress and help maintain sourcing data and records in SAP.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to support localization and supplier transition projects.

What we are looking for

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering
  • Ability to interpret and understand 2D and 3D engineering drawings.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work with data and translate insights into actionable recommendations.

  • Interest in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management.
  • Experience with data analytics tools and methodologies.
  • Exposure to SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Curiosity to learn about supplier management and category strategy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
