In this role, you will lead ASM’s Asia Manufacturing Engineering team based in ASM’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in Singapore and Korea, Dongtan. This team further structures the Bill of Materials for sourcing and purchasing, makes detailed assembly and test procedures and criteria, and ensures successful delivery to our customers, while helping to enable the high-volume manufacturing teams within ASM and into our contract manufacturing base transition products into high volumes with high quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Business Units Design Engineering and Global NPI (New Product Introduction) Engineering teams to develop build and test procedures to ensure tool’s functionality standards are met.
  • Responsible for establishing priorities and plans to manage business unit-focused manufacturing engineering teams with the primary responsibility to Engineer Manufacturing Processes necessary to ensure Safe, Quality deliveries of systems, spares and retrofit kits in Singapore operations sites.
  • Establish engineering strategic project plans for and leads the implementation of key programs and activities in accordance with ASM Global Operations strategic goals.
  • Establish a change management process to roll out proposed changes in manufacturing.
  • Drive solutions to problems/ opportunities within the Internal Factory and at Contract Manufacturing Outsource Partners.
  • Responsible to identify, commit & implement process and system needed to achieve MFG safety improvements, quality improvements, labor hours reduction and cycle time reduction.
  • Responsible for the shipped quality of products through continuous improvement using Lean six sigma tools like PFMEA, DMAIC, DOE, SPC and data analytics.
  • Manage timely execution of Engineering Change Orders (ECO). Influence peer group to make the Engineering change beneficial for effective and productive outcome.
  • Manage tooling and test equipment requirements. Innovation and automation in implementing tooling and test equipment to manufacturing efficiency and customer quality
  • Lead the innovative process in implementing changes in the business process to deliver excellence and value-add from the Engineering team
  • Be the key driver for continuous improvement within the Internal Factory and at Contract Manufacturing Outsource Partners
  • Responsible for generating and maintaining employee development and training to build an effective and future ready team
  • Lead the NPI engineering team in providing technical support for new product builds in pilot sites or high-volume manufacturing sites.

Functional Knowledge:

  • A strong understanding of quality processes and best practices.
  • Experience with Team Center, SAP and/or major ERP/MRP systems and processes.
  • Demonstrated/ proven knowledge in creating and implementing manufacturing processes in a highly complex assembled systems business.
  • Experience in improving existing business processes for a smooth transition from New Product to High Volume Manufacturing at a very rapid pace.
  • Experience with Assembly and Test automation execution.
  • Experience in enabling internal manufacturing teams and contract manufacturers to ramp to high volumes.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship building skills.
  • Semiconductor industry experiences with deep knowledge of Equipment Manufacturing Engineering are a plus.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree/ Masters in relevant Engineering discipline.
  • Lean Six sigma green belt.
  • Effective management of a highly technical, global team.
  • Competency development within the team.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively from the working level to the executive levels across many functions.
  • Proficiency in identifying project risks and influencing the direction of projects to mitigate those risks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lean Six sigma black belt/ master black belt.
  • Experience with manufacturing of high complexity Capital Equipment.
  • Vacuum system and high-power systems experience i.e. DC (controlling digital signals and modules), as well as 220vAC, and 480vAC (providing distribution to various functional blocks).
  • Experience with complex Bill of Materials (BOM) with high level modules highly preferred.
    • Experience with high level modules should reflect an understanding from a BOM perspective, of functional blocks such as Wafer processing chambers, factory interfaces, gas delivery solutions, power distribution and control units, vacuum systems, and software.
    • Experience with modular design of BOMs thereby enabling better control and management of the configuration and allowing global operations to better deploy manufacturing and supply chain strategies.
  • Solid knowledge of SAP S/4HANA Advanced Variant Configuration.
  • Experience engaging in early design stages to influence direction on DfX.
