Job Description Summary

As the Safety Specialist for ASM Korea, you will serve as the primary safety professional supporting employees across service operations, office locations, and customer sites.

The position is responsible for ensuring compliance with Korean Occupational Safety and Health regulations, implementing ASM Global Safety standards, supporting customer requirements, and promoting a strong safety culture. The role will manage safety programs, risk assessments, incident investigations, contractor safety, customer audits, and continuous improvement initiatives across ASM Korea.

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Safety Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of Safety or EHS experience.
  • Experience in semiconductor manufacturing, semiconductor equipment, electronics manufacturing, or other high-tech industries preferred.
  • Experience supporting customer contractor approval processes and customer EHS requirements preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Korean Occupational Safety and Health Act and related regulations.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This position is responsible for managing ASM Korea occupational safety programs and supporting service

operations, office locations, and customer sites across Korea.

 

Safety Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with Korean safety regulations and ASM global standards.
  • Support regulatory inspections, audits, and reporting requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments and support management of change (MOC) activities.
  • Identify workplace hazards and implement preventive and corrective actions.

 

Service Safety Programs

  • Develop and implement service safety programs and initiatives.
  • Conduct workplace safety inspections and assessments.
  • Monitor safety performance and track corrective actions to closure.
  • Promote continuous improvement of safety performance and culture.
  • Provide safety training, guidance, and oversight for contractors and service partners.

 

 

Contractor Approval & Customer Support

  • Lead and coordinate annual contractor approval processes required by major semiconductor customers
  • Support customer contractor approval requirements under Korean regulations.
  • Support customer EHS requirements, audits, and safety assessments.
  • Participate in customer safety reviews and best practice sharing initiatives.

 

Training & Incident Management

  • Develop and deliver safety training programs.
  • Conduct employee training on hazard recognition, safe work practices, and emergency response.
  • Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Promote safety awareness and engagement activities.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • Strong understanding of Korean Occupational Safety and Health regulations and safety management principles.
  • Experience managing safety programs, risk assessments, incident investigations, and corrective action programs.
  • Experience supporting contractor approval processes and customer EHS requirements.
  • Knowledge of contractor safety management, risk assessment, permit-to-work systems, and hazard control programs.
  • Communication skills in Korean and English.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

 

Licenses/Certifications

  • Qualified to serve as an Occupational Safety Officer under Korean Occupational Safety and Health regulations.
  • Preferred certifications include Industrial Safety Engineer (산업안전기사), or equivalent qualifications recognized under Korean regulations.

 

Travel

Up to 30% travel, primarily within Korea.

  • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment around semiconductor equipment, including in/around process modules, hazardous gas/chemical systems, and supporting facilities infrastructure.

  • Office and Fab environment
  • Location: Icheon, Korea, with responsibility for supporting EHS activities across customer sites.
