Metrology Engineer (TEM/FIB) – PhD graduates & experienced welcome

 

Location: Dongtan, South Korea

 

 

The Role

We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Metrology Engineer to join our R&D lab in Dongtan. In this role, you will utilize TEM and FIB tools to support advanced materials analysis and semiconductor R&D. This position is open to both fresh PhD graduates with hands-on experience from academia and experienced professionals with relevant industry background.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and manage TEM and FIB systems for metrology and failure analysis.
  • Collaborate with process and R&D engineers to develop new analytical methods and solve technical challenges.
  • Build and improve BKMs (Best Known Methods) and recipes with TEM/FIB tools.
  • Analyze measurement data and provide insights to support material and process development.
  • Maintain equipment, follow 6S practices, and contribute to lab operation excellence.
  • Document and share technical findings to enhance metrology workflows.

 

Qualifications

  • PhD in Engineering or a science-related field (Materials Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience operating preferably Thermo Fisher TEM or FIB systems in either a research or industry setting
  • Strong analytical skills and a proactive attitude toward learning and innovation
  • Communication skills in Korean, basic technical reading/writing in English
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to work in a two-shift system (expected hours: Shift A: 07:00–15:30, Shift B: 13:30–22:00)

 

Preferred

  • Industry experience in semiconductor metrology or failure analysis is a plus
  • Familiarity with other tools such as XRR, XRD, XRF, or e-beam inspection
  • Basic understanding of semiconductor process flow and device fabrication
