Job's mission

ASM is seeking a highly motivated engineer to support the fabrication, testing, and analysis of semiconductor devices for logic and memory applications. This role involves hands-on work in cleanroom environments, electrical testing, data analysis, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and process improvements.

Note: This role is intended for candidates who are graduating in Fall 2025 or have graduated within the past two years and have 0–2 years of professional work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Device Fabrication & Testing: Fabricate and test electrical test structures such as MOS capacitors, MIM capacitors, and FETs for advanced semiconductor applications.
  • Process Ownership: Take ownership of unit processes in the fab and test areas, including etching, lithography, metal deposition, electrical testing, etc.
  • Test Process Development: Develop and maintain test processes for various electrical test vehicles across FEOL and BEOL.
  • Documentation & SOPs: Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for fabrication and testing processes.
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC): Implement and manage SPC for fab and test processes. Apply GR&R and other statistical tools to improve test station performance.
  • Automation: Develop automation solutions for electrical testing and data analysis workflows.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external fab teams, as well as corporate R&D, to fabricate devices and develop new test vehicles, including reliability structures and testing.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze and interpret electrical test data (e.g., CV, IV, PUND, Dit) to support device characterization and process optimization.
  • Scripting & Programming: Build scripts and tools for automated data extraction, processing, and visualization.

Requirements

  • B.S. in ECE, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field with 3 to 4 years of relevant experience.
  • M.S. in ECE, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field with 1 to 2 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience in semiconductor device fabrication, testing and scripting for data analysis.
  • Experience in lithography, wet etch, metal deposition, and electrical test tool maintenance/troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with cleanroom protocols and mask layout design.
  • Experience in setting up and operating electrical test benches.
  • Solid understanding of semiconductor device physics and electrical characterization.
  • Strong initiative and ability to lead projects independently.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python and JMP Scripting Language (JSL) for data analysis and automation.
  • Experience with statistical analysis tools like JMP.
  • Understanding of basic statistics such as DOE, SPC, GR&R, etc.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams to meet project goals and deadlines.
