Job’s mission
A highly skilled and detail-oriented Component Engineer to ensure the reliability and lifecycle integrity of electrical and mechanical components within ASM’s modules. In this pivotal role, you will drive innovation through strategic component selection, rigorous qualification processes, and proactive lifecycle management. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you will optimize performance, cost efficiency, and supply chain resilience while upholding the highest standards of reliability.

What you will be working on
- Identify, evaluate, and recommend engineering components for new and current product designs.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure high-quality sourcing.
- Optimize component selection for performance, cost-effectiveness, and long-term availability.
- Ensure components meet industry and regulatory standards (e.g., RoHS, UL, ISO).
- Ensure compliance with industry and regulatory standards, including RoHS, UL, and ISO.
- Conduct failure analysis and root cause investigations for non-conforming components.
- Collaborate with design teams to validate component performance in real-world applications.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date component libraries and part specifications.
- Ensure adherence to environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with supply chain teams to identify alternative components and mitigate risks related to obsolescence or shortages.
- Liaise with external manufacturers to resolve technical issues and optimize sourcing strategies.
- Perform cost-benefit analysis to optimize component selection without compromising quality.
- Proactively identify alternative components to address potential supply chain disruptions.
- Manage change orders and develop mitigation strategies for component lifecycle risks.
- Proven hands-on experience in component selection, qualification, and supplier coordination.
- Expertise in failure analysis, component lifecycle management, and industry standards.
- Familiarity with failure analysis and component lifecycle management.
- Strong understanding of electronic components and their applications in circuit design.
- Function as a subject matter expert responsible for the lifecycle management of both electronic and mechanical components.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or related field).
- Up to 3 years of experience in engineering or technical project management (internships and co-ops count).
- Coursework or exposure to Systems Engineering, Project Management, Industrial Engineering, or Supply Chain.
- Familiarity with PLM systems (e.g., Teamcenter) and ERP systems (e.g., SAP S4 Hana).
- Basic proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (e.g., CREO).
- Understanding of ASME Y14.5 GD&T practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in complex obsolescence management.
- Expertise in part standardization application and best practices.
- In-depth knowledge of EEE parts, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Extensive exposure to Configuration Management CMII practices (CMII certification preferred).
- Strong understanding of inventory management principles, including CPIM methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with PLM systems such as the Teamcenter platform.
- Proficiency in component management software and supplier databases.
- Knowledge of procurement processes, Approved Vendor List (AVL) management, and obsolescence forecasting.
- Comprehensive understanding of industry regulations (e.g., RoHS, UL, IPC, ISO).
- Familiarity with electronic component testing methodologies and reliability assessments.
- Strong grasp of electronic components and their applications in circuit design.
- Experience with ERP systems, including SAP S4 Hana and MRP platforms.
- Expertise in Design for Six Sigma methodologies for quality and efficiency optimization.

- Proficient in complex mechanical/electrical model systems with intermediate-level expertise.
- Intermediate working knowledge of complex mechanical/electrical model systems.
- Analytical Skills: The ability to deconstruct complex problems into smaller components is key.
- Proven ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment, driving results and leading change through collaboration.
- Skilled in managing by influence, leveraging strong relationships and process-focused strategies.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences effectively.
