As a Process Productivity Engineer (PE) Engineer at ASM, you will work with our customers as a system level expert focused on product support for new product development. This role will require 25-50% domestic and international travel (depending on product cycle).
Responsibilities:
- Drives and owns top customer productivity issues (e.g., defect reduction, tool matching, tool availability, etc.) for products in the field across the product life cycle, from new product introduction through high volume manufacturing.
- Interaction with Hardware, Electrical, Controls, Product Support, Process, and Software engineering teams to become the system level expert on new products transferred to the field. Become an expert on the interaction of the products with the customer processes and resulting tool productivity.
- Provides guidance to engineering during the design phase of new products on key customer requirements and needs, including productivity specifications (e.g., defects, tool matching, throughput, etc.) and process best practices.
- Designs and conducts experiments, in addition to measuring and interpreting experimental output, aimed at fulfilling stated objectives using Design of Experiments (DOE) and Response Surface Methodology (RSM).
- Troubleshoots equipment problems and is personally and actively engaged in problem via “hands-on” modalities.
- Owns marathon qualification of new processes and products in the development lab, including data collection, analysis, and improvement plans. Works closely with Process, Product Support, and Hardware engineering teams providing real time feedback of marathon issues and recommended solutions.
- Ensure processes follow best known practices throughout the product life cycle, from before the first eval shipment through the HVM ramp. Share and proliferate new solutions across internal teams, including Process, Product Support, and Field Support engineering teams.
Education and Requirements:
- Master’s or PhD Degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related degree.
- Hands-on and/or course work experience with hardware.
- Strong technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Demonstrated ability to characterize processes and/or hardware using first principles and experimental design techniques (e.g., DOE, RSM).
- High motivation, enthusiasm and curiosity to learn.
- Interested in working with new products, testing them and becoming a system level expert.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to clearly communicate advanced technical constructs in direct and concise manner.
- Statistical analysis and script writing in Python, Matlab, or similar is a plus.
- Ability to travel (domestic and international) 25-50%
