The ASM Legal Team is actively looking for a Regional Legal Counsel who will play a crucial role in independently reviewing and negotiating high-value and high-volume agreements. This position involves drafting standard terms and conditions that will assist in supporting both the legal team and global business units across various operational tasks and negotiations.

 

The primary focus of this role will be to support our commercial sourcing team. However, the opportunities available extend well beyond this area, encompassing all aspects of our operations in Singapore, throughout Asia, and on a global scale.

Responsibilities include: 

  •  Contract Review and Compliance:
    o    Analyse and manage agreements for Direct and Indirect global procurement, including high value contract manufacturing agreements
    o    Assess contracts related to sales, services, logistics, facilities, leases and renovations
    o    Collaborate with Regional HR to review policies and provide legal insights on employment law matters;
    o    Advise on employee code of conduct investigations and proposed actions
  • Stakeholder Coordination and Legal Advisory:
    • Work closely with teams in in supply chain, logistics, insurance claim handling advisory, HR etc. in multiple countries
    • Partner with the Legal Operations team to maintain and update agreements.
  • Process Improvement and System Optimization:
    • Develop scalable processes for efficient contract handling
    • Improving internal tools and policies to maximize efficiency
    • Coordinate with database developers to enhance contract management systems
  • Training and Data Integrity
    • Conduct basic training sessions (legal orientation training).
    • Maintaining the integrity of large amounts of data in the contract database by scanning agreements and ensuring that all information is captured accurately.
  • Tracking and Reporting
    • Lead the tracking status of agreements in process and coordinating the execution of agreements with internal and external signatories.
    • Lead the status update of contractual matters by providing regular reports using the contract management system.
    • Other ad-hoc duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:

  •  Extensive experience in drafting, review and negotiation of high value contracts
  •  Superior written and oral communication skills
  •  Must be detail-oriented, able to prioritize, handle multiple tasks, diligently follow-up, and work well under pressure in a fast-moving environment.
  •  Working knowledge of data management software (such as Agiloft) will be helpful
  •  Contract management experience is a plus
  •  Strong team player with ability to work closely with others
  •  Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment
  • This is a dual global and regional role, strong written and verbal English communication is mandatory. Fluency in Chinese (written and verbal) is a plus.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and agility to manage many divergent matters and set expectations with internal stakeholders on timelines.

Key Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of progrssive experience, whether in-house or at a law firm, where you’ve had significant interactions with clients and executives.
  • A technology background is a plus, but not a must!
  • We’re looking for someone who is team-oriented, positive, and has a growth mindset.
  • A Bachelor of Law Degree from a well-respected university is essential.
