Job's mission
As a Senior Commodity Specialist at ASM, you’ll take full ownership of strategic sourcing and supplier performance for motion and gate valves—critical components that power our leading-edge semiconductor equipment. You’ll be the primary point of contact between ASM and its supply base, bringing innovation and stability to our global value chain. Your strategic decisions will help shape operational efficiency, reduce risk, and fuel our continued growth in a fast-evolving, high-mix environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead global sourcing strategies and supplier network capabilities for Motion Valves & Gate Valves to meet critical KPIs: Time to Market, Cost of Goods, Lead Time, and Supply Continuity.
- Communicate commodity strategies across business units to align supplier decisions with product development and NPI goals.
- Drive cost reductions in a complex, low-volume/high-mix environment through strategic negotiation.
- Own supplier relationship management across the lifecycle: identification, qualification, negotiation, and performance.
- Negotiate complex supplier agreements that align with program needs and functional priorities.
- Manage total supplier performance through metrics, compliance tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate cross-functionally and cross-regionally to meet strategic objectives.
- Monitor industry trends and lead supplier Technology Roadmap Meetings (TRMs).
- Act as tactical liaison on supplier issues while ensuring continuity of supply.
- Evaluate and mitigate supply risks, developing secondary sourcing strategies for critical products.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years in procurement or commodity management with increasing responsibility.
- 3+ years of experience in semiconductor or high-tech manufacturing environments.
- Strong skills in negotiation, supplier management, and project execution.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Supply Chain or related field.
- Background in build-to-print, OEM, RF power, machining, or contract manufacturing.
- Strong initiative and results-driven mindset.
- Customer-focused communicator with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
