Step into a career with ASM, where cutting edge technology meets collaborative culture.

For over 55 years ASM has been ahead of what’s next, at the forefront of innovation and what’s technologically possible. With more than 4,500 ASMers representing 70 nationalities, our people and our advanced semiconductor devices are playing a crucial role in trends such as 5G, cloud computing, AI, and autonomous driving.  But we’re more than just a tech company. We value diversity, inclusion and sustainability as we strive to make a positive impact on the world.  Our development programs help support your growth, shaping your future and pushing the boundaries of innovation to unleash potential.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechatronics/Robotics Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring robust expertise in control systems engineering with a demonstrated background in closed-loop visual servo control, image processing, servo motor integration, and control software development. You will play a key role in the design, development, and implementation of complex robotic and electromechanical systems across diverse applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electromechanical systems, integrating robotics with advanced control architectures.
  • Implement visual-aided closed-loop control systems, including camera-based feedback and real-time motion adjustment.
  • Apply image processing algorithms to guide robotic motion and decision-making, using OpenCV, MATLAB, or similar libraries.
  • Develop and tune servo control systems, ensuring precision, responsiveness, and system stability.
  • Program and deploy control software for robotic platforms and embedded controllers (e.g., in C/C++, Python, ROS, etc.).
  • Develop, debug, and maintain PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) programs using platforms such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Beckhoff.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to ensure seamless integration of components.
  • Participate in system prototyping, testing, validation, and field deployment.
  • Document system architecture, design decisions, testing procedures, and performance metrics.
  • Provide technical support for troubleshooting, upgrades, and maintenance of deployed systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of industry experience in robotics, automation, or electromechanical systems.
  • Proven expertise in control systems, including PID tuning, kinematics, and dynamic modeling.
  • Hands-on experience with machine vision and image processing
  • Strong background in servo drive configuration and motor control.
  • Proficiency in control software development, including embedded and real-time systems.
  • Experience with PLC programming, ladder logic, and industrial communication protocols.
  • Familiarity with robotic frameworks such as ROS, and tools like MATLAB/Simulink, LabVIEW, or TwinCAT is a plus.
  • Familiarity with low-level communication interfaces (e.g., CAN bus, I2C, SPI, UART) for connecting and controlling sensors, actuators, and embedded devices.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical design principles and CAD tools, enabling effective collaboration on robotic hardware design and modifications.
  • Experience with sensor integration (incorporating cameras, LIDAR, proximity sensors, etc.) and processing sensor data for real-time decision making.
  • Skills in actuator control – hands-on experience controlling motors, servos, or pneumatic actuators and developing algorithms for motion and trajectory control.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes and automation requirements – experience with industrial robots (e.g., wafer handling robots or automated material transport systems) or a strong willingness to learn these applications is highly valued.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or in teams.
  • Excellent communication skills for technical documentation and interdepartmental collaboration.
